ACCESS TO RECORDS UNDER FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000

As of 1 January 2005, the Freedom of Information Act allows access to all types of recorded information held by the Town Council.   Information can be obtained by applying to the Town Council in writing.

Whilst individuals already have the right to access information about themselves which is held on computer and most paper files under the Data Protection Act 1998, the Data Protection Act restricts access to personal information about third parties.  Beyond that already in the public domain, personal details of Councillors or employees may be exempt from publication and personal details of third parties may be expunged from any document released.   There are certain other exemptions from publication, such as disclosure of trade secrets.  Where a decision on whether the information requested falls under an exemption, the Clerk will advise you and keep you informed of progress.  If you are not happy with a decision not to release information subject to an exemption, the matter will be dealt with according to the Town Council Complaints Policy.

Charging Policy

This policy was approved by Easingwold Town Council at its meeting on 15 March 2005 and will be reviewed bi-annually.
